There is a hands-on workshop where visitors can experience Kyo-karakami by using real woodblocks, a gift store where wooden stamps with woodblock motifs and interior products finished with karakami are available.
On the second floor is the Karamaru Karakami Workshop, where craftsmen make karakami.
"Karamaru" is a one-stop shop where visitors can enjoy the charm of Kyo karakami. The traditional techniques that have been difficult to see from the outside are now open to the public,
"Karamaru" is a one-stop shop for visitors to experience the traditional techniques and textures of Kyo Karakami, which were previously difficult to see from the outside.
Visitors can print karakami postcards and koban (small-sized paper), and even make karakami into art panels and mini-byobu (folding screens), making it easy to experience the traditional craft of Kyoto karakami.
Visitors can also plan to observe the karakami printing process in the karakami workshop on the second floor, which is actually in operation.
